Losing weight and keeping it of is much, much easier than you probably think. The healthiest way to lose weight is not the quickest way to lose weight. Crash diets, new trendy weight loss plans, state of the art slimming tablets or sudden and drastic increases in exercise are not recommended as a health approach to weight loss and can also be dangerous.
Have you ever felt the whole weight loss game is just one big lie. You lose some weight, you put some weight back on again. Each time you feel more miserable than you did before. Most people when they look back at their weight loss history find that over time they are actually putting weight on....What a contradiction......
People who are happy with their weight and keep to a healthy weight don't actually try. They just do things a certain way. The formula for success is actually easy and its the same formula being used in every country throughout the world again and again. Its all about "HABITS"
We overcome our old habits and replace them with new habits. I'm sorry to sound so simplistic but that's it.
Habits good or bad are formed by repetition. Eating habits are no exception. If you are in the habit of snacking when you watch tv, you are reinforcing that habit until finally it becomes part of you. Other habits that lead to being overweight are formed in the same way. Some of these habits are, eating while reading, eating the minute you come into the house, snacking when you are cooking, etc.
We also find that certain moods and circumstances cause us to eat even if we are not hungry. For example, anger, boredom, fatigue, loneliness, kids are finally in bed, anxiety etc, can all trigger an eating response. The list is endless...Habits are hard to break. Remember we must not only break old habits, but we must make it our goals to form new ones in the same manner through repetition. We do this by making some daily commitments. Your daily commitments will help you form good habits. You can open most magazines today and find various kinds of diets to help you lose weight but the problem is most people associate pain to losing weight. When we give up something our brain links pain to it, especially the foods we have grown to enjoy eating.
The secret is to be able to eat healthier and make this part of our lifestyle on an ongoing basis. We achieve this by changing the way we think toward food and the way we want to look. We have our brain link so much pain to being overweight and massive pleasure to being slimmer and fitter that we find the entire process easy, fun and enjoy the process along the way. This brings me to the two forces that control our lives on a daily basis...PAIN and PLEASURE
